Members of the IAO are under an obligation to maintain and extend their professional knowledge and competencies under the IAO Code of Conduct. IAO doesn’t give specific guidelines but suggests members should aim for a total of at least 20 hours of CPD activity per year.

It is an obligation of membership of IHEEM that CPD is planned, undertaken and recorded. IHEEM recommends that members carry out regular reviews of their career aims and objectives and identify education, training and assessment needs. Having identified such needs, members should then ensure that sufficient CPD activities are undertaken to meet those needs.
With IHE, CPD is recognised as a key value for membership grades and the institute promotes the supporting of individuals to achieve their professional development objectives.
IMAREST has no minimum requirement for CPD to be undertaken. Chartered Scientists must return a declaration form annually. 2.5% of these will be randomly selected and asked to submit a full CPD log.
