Our Research Background

The CPD Research Project, established in 2009, is largest university led research project into CPD, adult skill development and lifelong learning.

With over a thousand professionals, 50 professional institutes, and various employers, charities and government, taking part in the research project, the results produced robust data.

The most striking finding was a strong need for stringent, independent accreditation to verify appropriate learning activities.

Whether training courses, conference events, online learning and coaching for formal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and employment performance management requirements.

From there, the Professional Development Consortium was founded which is home to the CPD Standards Office, and the CPD Research Project – still ongoing to this day.

As the independent CPD accreditation service for PDC, the CPD Standards Office mission has always been to “Campaign for Excellence in Lifelong Learning”.  To continue to achieve this, we need considerable contributions to this survey that will generate robust data and statistics.  These will consequently generate a clearer picture of the evolving landscape of online and CPD training opportunities, as well as its dark underbelly of unscrupulous rogue providers.
