Why it exists
Training providers are already using AI in course design, content production and learner support. Used with clear governance, it extends what a provider can do. Used without it, a provider carries risks it has not assessed — to its learners, and to itself.
CPDSO3023 gives an organisation a structured way to show learners, clients and its own board how AI is used in the design, delivery and assessment of learning.
The risks governance addresses
Four areas where unmanaged use of AI creates exposure for a training provider.

Inaccurate or fabricated content
AI systems can produce content that appears credible but contains factual inaccuracies or unsupported claims. Without review, this content can end up in your training materials.

Bias and fairness concerns
AI systems can reflect the biases present in their training data. Without active monitoring, the examples and language used in learning materials may not be inclusive, or may reinforce stereotypes.

Data protection risks
Where an AI tool processes learner data to generate responses or insights, the provider remains responsible for that data. Without appropriate safeguards, organisations face legal and ethical exposure under data protection law.

Erosion of professional judgement
Over-reliance on automated systems reduces opportunities for reflection, critical thinking and professional judgement. Learning is a fundamentally human-centred process. AI should support it, not replace it.
