(Mandatory for Fellows and Associates in paid work and fully regulated by the UK Actuarial Profession)
Category 1: all members who hold a Practising Certificate issued by the
Minimum 30 hours verifiable CPD. Of which: minimum 20 hours (of which at least 10 is external) must be technically relevant to the member’s area of work; minimum 6 hours relates to professionalism. Up to 15 hours for service to the Profession.
Category 2: all other members in paid work. Members must undertake verifiable CPD activities comprising a mixture of private study and at least 5 hours attendance at events. The ratio of these is decided on a sliding scale available on the Profession’s website. Some CPD must take the form of attendance at one or more external events.
Up to 8 hours for service to the Profession.
Category 1: CPD year is year leading up to the Practicing Certificate application date. Members must record their CPD activity for each CPD year online in the member’s section of the website. Members are not permitted to count time engaged in private study towards qualifications as CPD. Failure to comply with the CPD Scheme will result in disciplinary action being taken which may result in a finding of misconduct or a fine of £750 and entry within the registry of non-compliers.
Category 2: CPD year starts in July. Members must record details of all qualifying CPD activity on-line in the member’s section of the Profession’s website. An extension to 30 September to complete recording may be granted upon making payment of a £50 administration fee. Members who include hours of private study must also record the learning outcome achieved as a result of the study in order that it can qualify as verifiable CPD. Failure to comply with the CPD Scheme will result in disciplinary action being taken which may result in a finding of misconduct or a fine of £750 and entry in the registry of non-compliers.
