From The Professional Bodies, Associations, and Institutes for Practitioners in the Animal Care & Veterinary Industry

BRITISH VETERINARY ASSOCIATION (BVA)

The BVA offer a range of courses to complete CPD. Their comprehensive national CPD programme, developed in association with 'In Practice', features clinical courses across all disciplines and a range of non-clinical courses to develop business and personal skills.

BRITISH SMALL ANIMAL VETERINARY ASSOCIATION (BSAVA)

The BSAVA offer a range of courses to complete CPD and members can also book onto webinars and take part in their Professional Key Skills online CPD. Currently the annual CPD hourly requirements are 35 hours for veterinary surgeons and 15 hours for veterinary nurses.

ROYAL VETERINARY COLLEGE (RVC)

The RVC’s CPD Unit is the UK’s largest academic provider of educational services to the veterinary community and the courses offered range from seminars, lectures, interactive case based discussions, practical hands on sessions and courses based entirely online.

BRITISH VETERINARY NURSING ASSOCIATION (BVNA)

Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) comply with the RCVS and will be required to undertake CPD. All members will be held accountable for their professional conduct. The BVNA Congress provides lectures and workshops for all nursing levels. The CPD requirement veterinary nurses will be expected to fulfil moves from a minimum of 45 hours across a rolling three-year period – to 15 hours of CPD per calendar year.




ROYAL COLLEGE OF VETERINARY SURGEONS (RCVS)

All practising veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses listed on the RCVS register must complete the minimum CPD requirement. All members are obliged to maintain and continue to develop their professional knowledge and skills. The RCVS provide an online Professional Development Record which is a convenient way of recording learning throughout members careers. All members listed on the RCVS register must complete the minimum CPD requirement of 15 hours per year.
