The CPD Requirements

From The Professional Bodies, Associations, and Institutes for Practitioners in the Public Relations & Media Industry


Members of CIPR are expected to earn 60 CPD points each year. The CIPR has a free online platform where members can plan, track and record their learning. Once the correct amount of CPD is logged, members automatically become an accredited Public Relations Practitioner.


Each PRCA member needs to obtain 160 CPD points within an annual cycle. The PRCA is committed to creating a culture of CPD across the global PR and Communications industry. They have an online CPD platform that encourages members to take control of their development by planning, recording, and reflecting on learning goals and achievements. Points can NOT be carried over to following years.


The Chartered Institute of Journalists is the oldest professional body for Journalists in the world. The Institute’s promotes standards and ethics of the media, the protection of journalistic freedom, training and administers and supports many charities. The CIOF does not have a CPD policy.


The NUJ is committed to providing members with the advice and skills they need to pursue a successful career in the media, or act as effective union representation. The NUJ runs a wide range of skills-development programmes. Along with careers advice, they run courses from feature writing to web design to multi-platform courses using all the latest digital technologies. The NUS does not have CPD requirements for members.
