From The Professional Bodies, Associations, and Institutes for Practitioners in the Sport & Fitness Industry

Sports Therapy Association (STO)

STO Members are required to undertake a minimum of 24 hours CPD training each year. Student members are not required to undertake CPD training whilst they are in training. STO members do not need to acquire their CPD hours solely from accredited workshops.

The Society of Sports Therapists

All Members of The Society of Sports Therapists are required to undertake an annual programme of CPD in order to fulfil the criteria for membership. Members are accountable for their own professional development at all stages of their professional life. It demonstrates a commitment to best practice which is an essential concept with regard to the protection of the public.

The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sport and Exercise Medicine (ACPSEM)

Physiotherapists and physiotherapy support workers must be actively engaged in CPD to maintain and enhance their professionalism and competence. Quality, accountability and effective practice demand that members demonstrate they are keeping up to date with new knowledge, techniques and developments related to their practice.

Institute of Outdoor Learning (IOL)

IOL is the professional development body for the UK’s outdoor learning sector, committed to supporting, developing and ensuring professionals and organisations are acknowledged for contributing valuable cultural, community and educational assets for the UK. It is good practice across the sector for instructors, teachers, managers and leaders in the outdoors to engage in a range of on-going CPD activities. IOL members are required to meet annual CPD requirements, with registered members doing 10 hours per annum, accredited members doing 20 hours per annum and leading members 50 hours per annum.

National Register of Personal Trainers (NRPT)

Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA)

The CIMSPA requires members to complete their CPD requirements per subscription year, with an average of 10 points per annum.
