Event Details

For most people, any level of anxiety will reduce their mental resources and inhibit learning. So how, as a facilitator of learning, do you identify the level of anxiety someone is experiencing and create an environment to support them?

Anxiety is a term that is applied to a wide range of emotional states, from being a little nervous to fear which can be debilitating. Ultimately, anxiety is a response to a perception of risk and the greater the perceived risk, the greater the anxiety.

The antidote to anxiety is control. The more in control someone feels, the less vulnerable they feel.

This is the foundation upon which this webinar will be building: how to give your learners the control they need to reduce the risks they are attaching to their presence at your event.

  • We are going to be looking at how to recognise signs of anxiety. There are the obvious ones that are easier to notice, however many people have developed coping signals to mask their discomfort. By knowing what to look for, you will be better able to see behind the façade.
  • We will touch on conditions such as ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome, both of which are seeing more people with these diagnoses, and how they may show signs of anxiety.
  • We will cover some very practical ways that you can seek to establish a platform of trust and build quick rapport with learners that will reduce the perception of risk.
  • We will discuss various learning scenarios such as role-playing and group work and how to use different delivery techniques to support learning for those who are displaying signs of anxiety.

This will be a very interactive session with the aim of leaving you with very practical tools to enhance your service delivery.
